Dental crowns are a type of restorative treatment used to strengthen existing teeth, and treatment can be completed in as little as two sessions.
Crowns, also known as caps, are usually used in the following cases:
In the past, crowns were made with a metal foundation, which meant that they often had visible black lines on them. Today, modern crowns are usually made from ceramic or porcelain for a more natural aesthetic. At Crown Street Dental Group, our crowns are metal-free, are extremely strong and look just like natural teeth.
It usually takes two appointments to prepare and fit a crown. In the first appointment, we will shape the tooth to allow room for the crown and fit a temporary one whilst the real one is manufactured.
At the second appointment we will remove the temporary crown and place your new, custom-made crown.
As long as you maintain a good level of oral hygiene, your crown should last for many years.
