Composite Bonding

Composite Bonding

Composite bonding involves the application of a tooth-coloured resin to restore teeth that are fractured, decayed, discoloured or chipped. Composite bonding can be used to transform the appearance of one or more teeth in just one session.

Composite bonding is the perfect treatment for patients looking for instant results. We use it to treat issues such as:

  • Discoloured teeth
  • Gaps between the teeth
  • Uneven or crooked teeth
  • Broken or chipped teeth

We can also use composite bonding to help the prevention of temperature sensitivity if the root of the tooth has been exposed by receding gums.

During the composite bonding procedure, we roughen the surface of the tooth slightly so that the resin can easily bond to it. We will then mould the resin and shape it to fit your tooth. An ultra-violet light is then shone onto the tooth to harden the resin. Finally, we then shape, sculpt and polish the tooth, to make it match the rest of your teeth and provide an even result.

Composite bonding typically lasts for several years with the help of regular dental check-ups and visits with the hygienist. In time, the bonding will need to be repaired or replaced.
